Associate Principal, Artificial Intelligence Engineering (AI)

Location: Chicago, United States; hybrid work with up to 2 days per week of remote work

Salary: $127,900–$176,800 annually, plus an 8%–15% target incentive range

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end architecture, development, and production deployment of agentic AI systems.
• Design agent orchestration patterns, tool and context integrations, and evaluation pipelines for reliable operation.
• Build and maintain AWS infrastructure for AI agents and applications.
• Implement safeguards for hallucination detection, prompt-injection defense, output validation, and data privacy.
• Build audit logging and human-in-the-loop checkpoints for traceable and reviewable agent workflows.
• Mentor engineers through code and architecture reviews and contribute to engineering standards.

Requirements

• 4–7 years of software engineering experience and a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• Strong Python, proficient SQL, and solid distributed-systems and API-design fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience building LLM-powered applications or agentic systems, including production ownership from design through deployment.
• Knowledge of AI-specific risks such as prompt injection, output validation, hallucination mitigation, and data privacy.
• Cloud infrastructure experience, preferably AWS, with Docker, CI/CD, and containerization fundamentals.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with Claude, the Anthropic API, Claude.ai, or Anthropic Console.
• Experience with agent orchestration, Model Context Protocol integrations, or operating LLM systems at scale.
• Kubernetes, Terraform, data engineering, or AI security experience such as red-teaming and adversarial testing.
• Background in financial services, derivatives, or other regulated industries.
