Associate Principal, Network Engineering

Location: Chicago, United States; hybrid work with up to 2 days per week remote

Salary: $108,600–$154,500 per year, plus an annual discretionary incentive target of 8%–15%.

What you will do

• Support the lifecycle of network infrastructure, including deployment, upgrades, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Administer routing and switching platforms, Cisco FTD firewalls, Cisco ACI, and AWS-based network solutions.
• Design and analyze on-premise and cloud network and security architectures.
• Develop systems specifications and technical implementation plans for complex installations.
• Coordinate with vendors, carriers, clients, and engineering teams to resolve issues and deliver large-scale projects.
• Maintain technical documentation and provide on-call support for reliability and business continuity.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience in IT systems installation, operations, administration, and maintenance of virtualized servers or cloud systems.
• Strong knowledge of BGP, OSPF, ISIS, WAN, LAN, IP, VPN, IPAM, and DNS concepts.
• Advanced experience managing Cisco IOS, NX-OS, XR, and FTD platforms throughout their lifecycle.
• Strong network troubleshooting skills, including packet capture and analysis, plus experience with AWS and Azure connectivity in hybrid environments.
• Strong communication, presentation, leadership, project management, mentoring, and independent problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Scripting and infrastructure automation experience with Python, Ansible, or GitHub.
• CCNP, CCDP, AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or equivalent industry certifications.
• AWS certification in DevOps Engineering, Solutions Architecture, Advanced Networking, or Security.
