Electrical Engineer III - Life Sciences

Location: Birmingham, AL, USA; full-time onsite role

An AEC firm delivering design and construction solutions for life sciences and food and beverage manufacturers.

What you will do

• Design power, lighting, grounding and bonding, special systems, raceways, cable trays, and electrical control systems.
• Prepare load, illumination, short-circuit, and voltage-drop calculations, code evaluations, one-line diagrams, plans, schedules, specifications, and construction details.
• Lead electrical discipline scope, budgets, quality checks, system programming, and master planning for small to medium projects.
• Coordinate designs with architects, engineers, clients, construction managers, subcontractors, vendors, and manufacturers.
• Support construction through RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch lists, site walks, field surveys, and progress reporting.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and designers and may direct work across multiple concurrent projects.

Requirements

• ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
• At least 5 years of experience in a relevant AEC firm.
• Professional Engineer registration in good standing.
• Experience with intermediate-complexity electrical lighting, power, and special-systems design and engineering calculations.
• Working knowledge of electrical and building codes and standards, including NFPA, IESNA, UL, OSHA, and/or IEEE.
• Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams and construction trade partners, vendors, and manufacturers.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
• Experience with GMP manufacturing environments.
• Experience leading field surveys, troubleshooting electrical equipment and systems, and supporting proposal development.
• Ability to travel for client development, project execution, and training.
