Electrical Project Engineer

Electrical Project Engineer: Independent design, coordination, and documentation of electrical systems for building projects across various market sectors with an accent on power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, fire alarm, life safety, and emergency power systems. Focus on developing plans and calculations, coordinating with other disciplines, conducting site investigations, and supporting construction administration and commissioning.

Location: On-site in Buffalo, NY or Rochester, NY. Travel to project sites up to 15% may be required.

Salary: $72,500 – $87,360 USD per year

What you will do

• Develop electrical plans, calculations, specifications, and cost estimates
• Design power distribution, lighting, controls, fire alarm, life safety, telecommunications, low-voltage, special systems, and emergency power
• Coordinate with mechanical, plumbing, structural, architectural disciplines and stakeholders
• Conduct site investigations, review submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and change orders
• Perform site visits, observe construction, witness startup and testing, and review commissioning
• Supervise, mentor junior designers, CAD operators, and support QA/QC processes

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• 3–7 years of relevant electrical engineering design experience in building systems
• Familiarity with NEC, IECC, NFPA, IBC codes and standards
• Preferred: Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or E.I.T. working toward licensure
• Experience with commercial, healthcare, institutional, or multifamily projects preferred
