Maintenance Mechanic (Manufacturing)

Location: Elyria, Ohio, United States; onsite afternoon and evening shift coverage

Starting wage: $34.87 per hour; $5,000 sign-on bonus for external hires, paid in two installments after 6 and 9 months of employment.

Shalmet specializes in processing stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, carbon and alloy steels, aluminum, and other nonferrous materials, and operates within hirify.global’s Specialty Alloys Operations division.

What you will do

• Inspect, test, calibrate, repair, install, adjust, lubricate, dismantle, and clean mechanical production equipment.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical problems in collaboration with production and maintenance personnel.
• Operate mobile equipment and overhead cranes while following material movement procedures.
• Perform basic metal fabrication, pipe fitting, plumbing, and mechanical equipment construction.
• Use required tools, equipment, work order systems, and safe rigging and lifting methods.

Requirements

• Two years of industrial maintenance experience required.
• High school diploma or GED required; technical trade school or related college education preferred.
• Must pass testing for the related trade.
• Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, instructions, and trade terminology; perform basic measurements and calculations.
• Knowledge of general maintenance, mechanical components, installation procedures, basic carpentry, oxy-acetylene setups, and basic welding.
• Follow safety procedures including ARC Flash, Lockout/Tagout, confined space, hot work permits, and safe rigging; overtime is required when requested.

Nice to have

• Technical trade school or related college education.
• Basic computer skills and experience with work order systems.
