Cable Harness Engineer (Space)

Location: Hybrid based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. Travel up to 10%.

What you will do

• Design wiring harness assemblies for lunar landers and other flight vehicles operating in harsh environmental conditions.
• Verify wiring harness component compatibility and perform bend-radius checks, voltage-drop analysis, and mass calculations.
• Standardize parts and resolve issues involving connectors, backshells, shielding, and related components.
• Select Mil-Spec and high-reliability connectors and define twisting, shielding, and wire-gauge parameters.
• Create 2D harness schematics and layout drawings for internal manufacturing teams and external vendors.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of wiring harness design experience in military, aerospace, or space applications.
• Previous experience manufacturing wiring harnesses for military, aerospace, or space applications.
• A.A., B.S., or equivalent relevant experience.
• SolidWorks and SolidWorks Electrical or equivalent CAD experience is preferred.
• Must qualify as a U.S. Person under ITAR and EAR regulations: U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual.
• Must be eligible to obtain any required U.S. export authorizations.

Nice to have

• Experience with DWV, Hi-Pot, and IR testing.
• Knowledge of NASA-STD-8739.4A, AS50881, and MIL-STD-461G or equivalent EMI compliance experience.
• IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification and Class 3 inspection experience.
• 3D harness modeling and space environmental testing experience, including TVAC, shock/vibration, and EMI testing.
• B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering.
