Senior Harness Design Engineer I (Aerospace)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; based at hirify.global's global headquarters.

Base salary: $124,000–$170,500 USD annually. Total compensation including equity: $144,275–$206,175 USD annually.

What you will do

• Design and develop electrical harness systems for spacecraft, including connectors, backshells, wires, shielding, and routing.
• Generate wiring diagrams, pinout tables, interface definitions, bills of materials, fabrication drawings, and other harness documentation.
• Interpret spacecraft system architecture and define electrical interfaces in collaboration with systems engineering.
• Support harness fabrication and verify acceptance criteria through electrical testing and inspection.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineering and assembly, integration, and test teams to integrate harnesses into spacecraft.
• Perform electrical design and analysis, participate in design reviews, and troubleshoot issues during fabrication, integration, and testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or another engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of electrical engineering or avionics experience.
• Knowledge of electrical design principles, system schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness documentation.
• For work in U.S. offices, eligibility under U.S. Government ITAR export-control regulations is required.
• Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, lawful U.S. permanent resident, lawfully admitted refugee or asylee, or eligible to obtain the required government authorizations.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or another engineering discipline.
• Aerospace or defense industry experience, including satellite development or operations.
• Experience with Capital Essentials, NX, Teamcenter, JAMA, and harness fabrication standards such as NASA-STD-8739.4 and IPC/WHMA-A-620.
• Knowledge of power distribution, signal integrity, grounding, communication systems, thermal and mechanical routing considerations, and electrical harness testing.
• Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance and work effectively with competing priorities.
