Transition and Development Unit Supervisor (Claims Adjusting)

Location: San Diego, California; hybrid schedule with up to 2 days working from home upon eligibility

What you will do

• Supervise the acclimation, training, development, and performance of claims professionals handling medical and indemnity workers compensation claims.
• Plan, assign, and direct unit workflow while monitoring claim management, reserves, benefit payments, audits, service levels, and claim closures.
• Coach adjusters through one-on-one support and practical exercises using Compass, CXP, and Salesforce.
• Manage supplemental staffing resources, including temporary, floating, future medical, new, and experienced adjusters.
• Communicate the impact of changes in workers compensation laws and regulations on claims processes, tactics, and strategies.
• Coordinate with Medical Management, Legal, Subrogation, external legal providers, and investigation vendors while addressing escalated issues and complaints.

Requirements

• Minimum five years of workers compensation adjusting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
• California workers compensation claims adjusting credentials required.
• Sound knowledge of workers compensation regulations and the ability to apply them consistently.
• Strong written, analytical, presentation, investigation, persuasion, and negotiation skills for complex medical and legal matters.
• Mastery of Microsoft Office and working knowledge of Salesforce; ability to learn proprietary software quickly.

Nice to have

• Prior supervisory experience in workers compensation claims management.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
