Talent Development Specialist (Career Advisor)

Location: Vernon, Texas, USA; onsite, full-time

What you will do

• Manage a caseload of participants through counseling, mentoring, referrals, and case management.
• Assess competencies, work history, education, skills, and barriers to employment, then create individualized employment plans.
• Conduct regular meetings and follow-up outreach covering job search, training, job readiness, retention, and advancement.
• Connect participants with local resources, employers, education, training, and employment services.
• Lead classroom and job-readiness activities, introduce available career tools, coordinate assignments, and improve student readiness scores.
• Maintain accurate electronic and paper records, assessments, attendance, supportive-service logs, and employment-retention updates.

Requirements

• Related associate degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent work experience.
• Related professional experience; one to three years in workforce development or related programs is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated customer service and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of the communities served, including local needs and resources.
• Ability to work with people from varied cultural, language, educational, and economic backgrounds.
