Senior API Integration Developer (MuleSoft)

Location: Hybrid in Bloomington, Illinois, United States

Base pay range: $113,200–$155,650 annually, plus eligibility for a short-term incentive plan.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support MuleSoft APIs and integrations using Mule 4, Anypoint Platform, REST/SOAP services, DataWeave, RAML, and OpenAPI.
• Design data mappings, payload validation, transformations, API-led connectivity, and reusable integration patterns.
• Design and maintain Azure API Management gateways, policies, security controls, and integrations with Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, and Key Vault.
• Own integration work across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis through production deployment and validation.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, optimize, and support production APIs using Splunk, Dynatrace, Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and MuleSoft Anypoint Monitoring.
• Collaborate with architecture, analysis, development, DevOps, platform, operations, and delivery teams.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience.
• 7+ years of enterprise integration, middleware, or API development experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on MuleSoft experience with Mule 4, CloudHub 2.0, and Anypoint Platform.
• 2+ years of Microsoft Azure cloud-native development focused on API architecture and Azure API Management.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, SOAP services, DataWeave, JSON, XML, flat files, relational data, SQL, data transformation, CI/CD, Git, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Working knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, certificates, API keys, JWT, and managed identities, plus experience in formal SDLC and secure development environments.

Nice to have

• Experience modernizing or migrating MuleSoft and Azure-native integrations.
• Experience with MUnit, automated testing, and API or integration regression testing.
• Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns, event-driven architecture, and asynchronous integration.
• Experience with observability, monitoring, alerting, logging, and operational readiness.
• Insurance or financial services experience and familiarity with API governance.
