Consultant / Managing Consultant / Senior Managing Consultant (Structural Engineering)

Location: Los Angeles, California, United States; position based in the Los Angeles office

Salary: $107,000–$200,000 per year. Final title and compensation depend on qualifications and experience.

What you will do

• Support experts and senior staff on forensic engineering and construction dispute engagements.
• Perform structural evaluations, failure and distress analyses, and investigations involving buildings, infrastructure, and other constructed facilities.
• Investigate design and construction defects and assess potential causes of damage or failure through engineering analysis, project records, and field observations.
• Review drawings, specifications, calculations, construction records, inspection reports, and other technical documentation; perform structural analyses and calculations.
• Participate in site investigations, inspections, and development of investigative and testing programs.
• Assist with causation and standard-of-care analyses, expert reports, technical exhibits, and presentations for mediation, arbitration, and litigation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering; a master’s degree is preferred.
• At least 4 years of structural engineering experience.
• Strong structural engineering fundamentals, analytical skills, engineering judgment, and ability to evaluate technical and construction documents.
• Experience with structural analysis and design software such as SAP2000, ETABS, RAM, RISA-3D, or similar tools.
• Strong technical writing, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to submit verification of legal right to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

Nice to have

• California Professional Engineer license or demonstrated progress toward obtaining licensure.
• Forensic engineering, failure investigation, construction defect, or related consulting experience.
• Field investigation, structural inspection, or construction observation experience.
