Controls Manager (SCADA/PLC)

Location: Santa Teresa, New Mexico; on-site. Must be eligible to work in the United States. Domestic travel of up to 15% is required.

Compensation: $182,000–$204,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead, manage, and develop Controls Engineers responsible for building automation, industrial controls, SCADA, PLCs, EPMS, and OT data systems.
• Act as the site technical owner for controls and monitoring across mechanical, electrical, and campus-level infrastructure.
• Oversee implementation, commissioning, operation, troubleshooting, optimization, acceptance testing, and turnover of controls systems.
• Lead Ignition SCADA development, including graphics, tags, alarms, historian functions, reporting, integrations, and maintainability standards.
• Coordinate MQTT, databases, network connectivity, power-quality monitoring, and secure OT integrations with IT, cybersecurity, network, vendors, and commissioning teams.
• Establish documentation, alarm-management, training, troubleshooting, and operational-improvement standards for mission-critical systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Controls, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of experience with building automation, industrial controls, SCADA, PLCs, EPMS, or mission-critical facility control systems.
• 3+ years of leadership experience managing engineers, technical specialists, technicians, vendors, or multidisciplinary technical resources.
• Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and Ignition SCADA, including logic review, troubleshooting, tag structures, alarms, graphics, historian functions, scripting, reporting, and integrations.
• Strong knowledge of chilled-water plants, pumping systems, heat rejection, hydronic loops, electrical monitoring, power-quality meters, and EPMS concepts.
• Experience with industrial protocols such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, BACnet, SNMP, MQTT, and OPC UA; must be able to support off-hours troubleshooting, emergency response, and critical operational events.

Nice to have

• Experience with hyperscale, semiconductor, industrial, utility, or other large-scale mission-critical campuses.
• Ignition certification or advanced Ignition development experience.
• Enterprise MQTT broker experience and knowledge of SQL databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Experience with SEL power-quality meters and relays.
• Knowledge of OT cybersecurity, network segmentation, authentication, certificate management, and secure access practices.
