Private Equity / Private Debt Finance – AVP (Fund Accounting)

Location: Tokyo, Japan. Full-time, onsite role. Applicants must already have the right to work in Japan without current or future visa sponsorship.

What you will do

• Lead fund accounting, financial reporting, and cash flow management for private equity and private debt products, including Cayman-domiciled FoF and Japan-domiciled commingled fund structures.
• Prepare cash projections, LP-specific reporting, RFP responses, and ad hoc analyses for senior management and portfolio managers.
• Oversee the fund administrator’s preparation of quarterly financial statements, capital account statements, capital calls, and distribution notices.
• Review audited financial statements, footnote disclosures, management fee calculations, distribution waterfalls, partnership and fund IRRs.
• Support new fund onboarding, including review of DoT and LPA provisions, and contribute to valuation and expense allocation reviews.
• Coordinate with global finance, investment, investor relations, the Japan Desk, New York finance, auditors, tax professionals, business teams, and clients.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience in fund accounting or finance for private equity/private debt strategies, including FoF and commingled funds.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• Strong understanding of accounting theory, fund accounting, and financial reporting.
• Excellent organization, attention to detail, communication, interpersonal, and client-service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently, exercise sound judgment, and solve complex problems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a collaborative approach.

Nice to have

• CPA qualification from Japan or another jurisdiction.
• Experience as a fund controller.
• Fluent or business-level English for communication with global teams.
