Senior Capital Projects Engineer (Biomanufacturing)

Salary: $120,000–$140,000 per year

What you will do

• Define, design, and deliver pilot-scale and intermediate-scale facilities for a national biomanufacturing network.
• Translate member and stakeholder needs into robust unit operations and facility designs.
• Lead engineering and facility projects from concept through commissioning and startup.
• Specify and select equipment, develop bid packages, coordinate procurement, and oversee installation and construction execution.
• Manage EPC coordination, project schedules, budgets, change orders, risks, procurement tracking, and owner decision logs.
• Coordinate vendors, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to meet operational, safety, regulatory, and delivery requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. in engineering or a related discipline, such as chemical, biochemical, bioengineering, biotechnology, or mechanical engineering.
• At least 8 years of experience in capital project management, production management, or reliability management, including substantial industrial experience.
• At least 4 years of experience executing capital projects from initial design through startup.
• Required experience with capital projects involving fermentation and downstream processing.
• Experience with industrial electrical, mechanical, piping, safety, control, and automation systems, as well as equipment and facility design.
• Strong vendor and contractor coordination, project planning, budgeting, documentation, safety, communication, and change management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience designing pilot-scale or larger equipment, processes, or facilities.
• Experience with diverse bioreactor types and downstream processing operations, including filtration, membrane separation, drying, distillation, crystallization, and chemical transformations.
• Working knowledge of process control and automation.
