What you will do

• Review life insurance applications and supporting documentation against company underwriting guidelines.
• Determine risk classifications and required medical, non-medical, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
• Research complex cases, assess the need for additional information, and escalate applications when appropriate.
• Explain underwriting decisions, including adverse decisions, to financial professionals and customers.
• Co-sign work, train, and mentor less experienced underwriters.
• Support contestable claim reviews, underwriting guide updates, and system development activities including requirements, testing, regression testing, and user acceptance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 5 years of life underwriting experience.
• Strong knowledge of underwriting risk assessment, research techniques, medical terminology, and treatments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, organization, and customer service skills.
• Ability to interpret regulations, exercise sound judgment, work independently and collaboratively, and operate under pressure.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant department software.

• Active pursuit or completion of a LOMA designation.
