Cyber Security Analyst I

Location: Edgewood, Maryland, USA; full-time onsite role

Salary: $76,463–$114,694 per year, plus a Business Profit Plan and competitive benefits.

What you will do

• Triage Microsoft Defender alerts, review Entra ID sign-in risk events, monitor phishing simulations, and escalate anomalies.
• Generate weekly vulnerability reports from Defender and Nessus, maintain the vulnerability tracker, and follow up with remediation owners.
• Maintain evidence folders, procedures, screenshots, and checklists for NIST 800-171 and CMMC controls.
• Support policy and procedure updates, including version control, review cycles, and distribution.
• Manage the security ticket queue for access requests, exceptions, and general security questions.
• Support security training and phishing simulations while gaining exposure to incident response, audits, and program development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, IT, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of certifications and hands-on experience.
• 0–2 years of professional experience; internships, lab work, home-lab projects, help-desk experience, and military IT experience are accepted.
• Familiarity with the Microsoft 365 admin center and clear technical writing skills.
• Working knowledge or interest in Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Entra ID, vulnerability tracking, documentation, evidence management, and ticketing systems.
• Must work onsite in Edgewood, Maryland, USA.

Nice to have

• CompTIA Security+, or A+/Network+ while progressing toward Security+.
• Coursework, certifications, or lab experience with NIST 800-171, CMMC, or the Risk Management Framework.
• Microsoft fundamentals certification such as SC-900, MS-900, or AZ-900.
• Experience with ServiceNow, Jira, SharePoint, or Confluence.
• Basic PowerShell or KQL knowledge and willingness to develop further.
