Logistics Specialist (Trade Compliance)

Location: Albany, NY; full-time, onsite role supporting domestic and international logistics operations.

Salary: $60,000–$93,750 per year.

What you will do

• Coordinate heavy-haul and out-of-gauge shipments from quotation through final delivery to job sites.
• Arrange domestic and international ocean, air, truck, and parcel freight.
• Align delivery schedules with construction project timelines, budgets, customer requirements, and crew needs.
• Manage relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, brokers, and 3PLs to improve service, cost, and performance.
• Resolve customs-clearance escalations and oversee import/export operations, classifications, and documentation.
• Identify duty savings, free-trade-agreement opportunities, and classification strategies while maintaining accurate parts data.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience is considered.
• 5–7 years of logistics or supply chain experience, including significant international and project-based logistics exposure.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating heavy haul, out-of-gauge, and project cargo.
• Strong knowledge of 2020 Incoterms, trade compliance requirements, and global shipping documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including SharePoint and Teams, for document collaboration and file management.
• Proven experience with ERP/MRP systems; Avante or SAP preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills, with attention to detail.
• Ability to build cross-functional relationships, take initiative, manage multiple priorities, and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as business needs require.

Nice to have

• Direct HTS/ECCN classification experience; the ability to oversee consultant work and maintain data accuracy is also acceptable.
• Licensed Customs Broker, Certified Customs Specialist, Certified Classification Specialist, or similar trade compliance certification.
