Concrete Finisher Apprentice

Location: Sterling, Virginia, United States. Full-time onsite construction work; travel of up to 60 miles per day may be required depending on the project location.

Salary: $16.50–$28.50 per hour

What you will do

• Complete concrete placement and finishing trade work under the direction of a foreman or superintendent.
• Learn to place, consolidate, screed, finish, cure, and repair concrete to specified grades and elevations.
• Apply techniques for different concrete mix designs, admixtures, finish types, floor flatness, and levelness requirements.
• Learn early-entry saw cutting for control joints and operate tools and equipment used in concrete operations.
• Read and understand blueprints and specifications as skills develop.
• Complete ACI certification for placing and finishing concrete and silica awareness training.

Requirements

• No minimum educational requirements.
• Own hand tools and be proficient in operating a variety of tools.
• Understand safety rules and tool and equipment instructions.
• Take measurements, make calculations, solve problems, and keep tools and workspaces organized.
• Work effectively with supervisors and peers, communicate clearly, and maintain regular, punctual attendance.
• Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• General knowledge of basic concrete and hand tools.
• Up to five years of construction concrete or related construction experience.
