Process Technician - 3rd Shift (Vacuum Coating)

Location: Faribault, Minnesota, United States. Full-time onsite role on the 3rd shift, Sunday–Thursday, 10:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m.

Salary: Starting at $22.50 per hour, plus a $1.50 per hour shift premium.

What you will do

• Operate and monitor coating-line systems, including gas, power supply, drive, vent, pumping, and vacuum systems.
• Conduct tune-in and design control for optical coatings, prepare experimental samples, and perform environmental testing.
• Operate testing equipment, check calibrations, troubleshoot instruments, and maintain detailed electronic quality records.
• Investigate defects and yield loss with Process Technicians, Quality Assurance Technicians, supervisors, and support staff.
• Assist with work-instruction development, audits, team-member training and certification, maintenance, and special projects.
• Support root cause analysis, waste reduction, process improvement, and productivity initiatives.

Requirements

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a technical field is desirable.
• Two years of manufacturing experience is preferred.
• Experience with analytical equipment, computers, electronic quality records, and Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Familiarity with vacuum-system operation and strong mathematical, organizational, and detail-oriented skills.
• Ability to follow documented procedures, learn production jobs, cross-train, and work effectively in a multicultural team environment.
• Ability to work near moving mechanical parts in a loud production environment and occasionally lift or move up to 30 pounds.

Nice to have

• Process control experience.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma quality systems.
• Ability to coach and motivate team members to follow work instructions and achieve team goals.
