Benefit Consultant (Insurance)

Location: Hybrid schedule required, with 3 days per week in the office. Preferred locations are Atlanta, GA; Houston, TX; Chicago, IL; or Summit, NJ.

Salary: $110,000–$135,000 base salary per year.

What you will do

• Develop and execute benefit strategies for large, self-funded clients.
• Create cost-containment strategies across medical, pharmacy, disability, and other Health & Welfare programs.
• Analyze claims and utilization trends, financial data, benchmarks, and client reporting.
• Lead vendor evaluations, RFPs, procurement, contract negotiations, implementations, and performance tracking.
• Manage client relationships, deliverables, compliance deadlines, annual planning, renewals, and escalated claims.
• Support business development, employee communications, enrollment activities, and internal process improvements.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of experience in insurance, employee benefits, or HR.
• Strong knowledge of self-funded medical, pharmacy, dental, vision, disability, life, and absence programs.
• Experience managing large self-funded clients in consulting or brokerage and handling full-cycle RFPs.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, plus experience designing and implementing benefit plans.
• Insurance license or ability to obtain one; knowledge of regulations, compliance requirements, and self-funded plan financials.
• Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, project management, Microsoft Office, and large-data-set skills; willingness to travel and work outside standard hours when needed.
