Senior Principal Architect, Cyber Defense Engineering (AI)

Location: Chicago, Illinois; hybrid work with at least two days per week in person at an assigned hirify.global office

Salary: $187,500–$312,500 annually, with potential eligibility for an annual bonus and, for certain positions, long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Own and evolve the Cyber Defense reference architecture across detection, response, vulnerability management, endpoint telemetry, data platforms, and automation.
• Architect DSPM capabilities, including cloud-native data discovery, classification, and exposure detection across AWS, GCP, and hybrid environments.
• Define ZTNA and endpoint security architectures covering identity-aware access, EDR, exposure management, telemetry integration, and tool rationalization.
• Design AI-enabled and agentic security capabilities for triage, investigation, and response, including LLM agents, MCP-based orchestration, and AI SOC integrations.
• Lead SIEM and security data platform modernization, including log ingestion, retention, analytics, and platform consolidation.
• Establish architecture governance, integration patterns, technical design documentation, vendor evaluations, and proof-of-concept plans.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in cybersecurity architecture, security engineering, or related technical roles, with ownership of enterprise-scale security reference architectures.
• Deep experience with DSPM, CNAPP, cloud security, and cloud-native data security tooling across AWS, GCP, or Azure, including Wiz.
• Strong ZTNA and identity-aware access architecture experience in enterprise environments.
• Hands-on EDR architecture experience with CrowdStrike Falcon and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, including fleet-wide telemetry and exposure management.
• Experience with AI-enabled or agentic security capabilities, SIEM, SOAR, case management, vulnerability management, and modern security data platforms.
• Strong Python or Go programming and scripting skills, plus a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, information security, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience with vulnerability management platforms, SOC technology architecture, and alert normalization.
• Background in financial services, fintech, or another regulated enterprise environment.
• Familiarity with Terraform, Harness, Kubernetes, and cloud-native deployment tooling.
• Experience leading technology evaluations and proof-of-concept programs.
