Laboratory Assistant

Location: Lenexa, Kansas, USA. Full-time on-site role working Tuesday–Saturday, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM. Candidates must live within a commutable distance of Lenexa.

What you will do

• Receive incoming shipments, examine specimens for accuracy and requirements, and resolve sample or testing discrepancies with clients.
• Perform data entry in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), label specimens, and deliver them to the appropriate laboratory areas.
• Retrieve, re-file, store, prepare, and ship specimens in accordance with applicable requirements.
• Operate front-end processing automation equipment as assigned and support laboratory cleaning activities.
• Maintain quality control and quality assurance records while following laboratory policies, SOPs, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• At higher levels, manage escalated issues and projects, supervise and train staff, and support workflow planning and scheduling.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years of clinical laboratory experience.
• Comfort handling raw specimens and ability to follow SOPs, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and company policies.
• Intermediate proficiency with PC software and database skills; data entry experience is preferred.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, work around laboratory equipment and hazardous or biohazardous materials, and lift items weighing up to 15 pounds.
• Must be authorized to work indefinitely in the United States without restriction or sponsorship.

Nice to have

• At least 1 year of data entry experience.
• Leadership, advanced problem-solving, staff training, scheduling, or laboratory workflow management experience.
