Manager, Database & Linux

Location: Hong Kong; hybrid work with in-person attendance at a hirify.global office at least two days per week

What you will do

• Maintain and secure RDBMS environments including SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and Informix.
• Administer Windows, Unix, and Linux infrastructure, including patching, configuration, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
• Monitor and respond to security events, incidents, production issues, and on-call requests.
• Support application teams with installations, maintenance levels, batch-processing environments, and system-level troubleshooting.
• Evaluate and deploy new application systems and IT technologies, including Docker and Java application servers.
• Maintain documentation and execute annual business continuity and disaster recovery drills.

Requirements

• Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• At least five years of hands-on DBA experience and five years of Linux/Unix system administration experience.
• Strong knowledge of database administration, Windows/Linux administration, virtualization, servers, networks, SAN storage, cloud platforms, and configuration management.
• Experience with Red Hat, JBoss, Tomcat, Apache, Oracle, DB2, Informix, VMware, scripting, load balancing, firewalls, HAProxy, NGINX, iptables, and Splunk.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English and Cantonese.
• Availability for 24/7 roster-based support and regular hybrid office attendance in Hong Kong.

Nice to have

• Oracle, SQL, Linux, or AWS certifications.
• Experience with software development methodologies, SDLC, Agile frameworks, and statistical tools.
