Cutoff Operator (Manufacturing)

Location: Manufacturing facility; shift from 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Pay: Starts at $20 per hour

What you will do

• Set up and operate band saws, abrasive saws, sand grinders, belt grinders, and portable pneumatic grinding tools.
• Remove fins, burrs, gates, risers, and other surplus metal from sand castings.
• Use hand tools such as hammers, cold chisels, and files; operate or load blast cleaning equipment when required.
• Inspect work for defects before passing it to the next operation.
• Report production quantities, complete quality and production forms, and follow manufacturing procedures.
• Support team performance by training others in machine operator tasks when needed.

Requirements

• Safely use small hand and power tools and operate a variety of machinery.
• Read and interpret work instructions and communicate effectively with a supervisor about manufacturing processes.
• Understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of work experience and skill development.
• Ability to meet medium-heavy physical demands, including lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently.
• Six or more months of manufacturing experience is desirable.
