What you will do
- Support strategic and tactical open-pit mine planning, including pit optimization, mine design, drill and blast design, production scheduling, and trade-off analyses.
- Provide mining engineering input to geotechnical, hydrology, environmental, processing, geometallurgical, and waste-management workstreams.
- Evaluate mining methods, equipment strategies, operational configurations, and mine-site layouts, including integration with processing and surface infrastructure.
- Prepare and review mining CAPEX, OPEX, operating budgets, economic-model inputs, productivity assumptions, equipment requirements, and labor estimates.
- Develop operational-readiness frameworks, standards, procedures, regulatory submissions, environmental documentation, and industry-compliant reports.
- Monitor performance against the approved mine plan and KPIs, support risk assessments and project reviews, and develop data-driven continuous-improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or engineering degree in Mining.
- 7+ years of mine engineering and operations experience.
- Strong knowledge of surface mining methods for hard-rock deposits.
- Proficiency with open-pit mine design and scheduling software across short-, medium-, and long-term horizons.
- Experience with open-pit drill and blast design and operations, mine operating costs, and capital cost estimates.
- Knowledge of U.S. mining regulations, including MSHA, and permitting processes, with strong analytical, decision-making, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Nice to have
- Experience evaluating and implementing new mining technologies.
- Team leadership experience and multi-commodity or underground mining experience.
- GIS experience with ArcGIS or ArcView.
- Experience with mine commissioning and start-up.
