Inventory Accounting Manager

Location: Secaucus, New Jersey, United States; onsite

Salary: $118,125–$160,000 per year, plus potential bonus and benefits

What you will do

• Own accounting, reporting, and analysis for inventory, COGS, gross margins, and standard costs.
• Prepare and review monthly journal entries, inventory movement records, in-transit accruals, freight and tariff capitalization, and inventory-related reconciliations.
• Ensure inventory valuation and reserves for slow-moving, excess, and obsolete stock comply with US GAAP.
• Analyze standard-versus-actual cost and budget-versus-actual margin variances, identify cost drivers, and explain findings to management.
• Partner with Product, Sales, IT, and auditors on standard product costs, process automation, ERP testing, physical inventory counts, and control documentation.
• Build and manage inventory and COGS internal controls, including SOX-compliant processes for a new division, while managing and coaching the accounting team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• At least 7 years of accounting experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory role.
• Experience with inventory accounting, COGS, margin analysis, reconciliations, and US GAAP inventory valuation.
• Proficiency with SAP and other business systems.
• Strong communication, independence, attention to detail, and ability to lead a hands-on accounting team.
• Ability to work onsite in Secaucus, New Jersey.
