Senior Electrical Reliability Engineer (High Voltage)

Location: Based primarily at the Texas City, Texas facility, with approximately 15–20% travel to other North American sites.

What you will do

• Provide technical support for high-voltage distribution systems, substations, motors, generators, VFDs, UPS systems, and other critical electrical assets.
• Lead troubleshooting, root cause analyses, corrective actions, and technical response strategies across multiple facilities.
• Develop engineered reliability solutions and predictive and preventive maintenance programs to improve equipment performance and plant availability.
• Perform short-circuit, arc-flash, load-flow, motor-starting, and voltage-drop power system studies.
• Program and validate SEL and Multilin protective relays using study results and event analysis.
• Review technical designs, oversee vendor repairs, maintain electrical safety standards, and mentor operations and maintenance personnel.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of electrical engineering experience, including operations and maintenance in large industrial plants.
• Experience managing an electrical safety program with detailed knowledge of NFPA 70E.
• In-depth experience with SKM PowerTools for Windows and SEL and Multilin protective relays.
• Experience supporting high-voltage substations, transformers, motors, generators, motor control circuits, VFDs, station batteries, and UPS systems.
• Experience with synchronous generators, associated control and protection systems, and NERC standards for generating facilities.
• Ability to work primarily at the Texas City facility and travel throughout North America approximately 15–20%.

Nice to have

• Active Texas PE license.
• NFPA CESCP or similar safety training certification.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs for large complex processes.
• Working knowledge of PLC, DCS, and associated instrumentation systems.
