LTD Claims Consultant

Location: Remote in the United States; travel to Guardian offices as needed, with preference for candidates within commuting proximity to a Guardian office.

Salary: $58,620–$96,300 annual base pay, with potential eligibility for additional incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Provide technical support to claim teams, review claim authorizations, and serve as a subject matter expert on complex issues.
• Improve initial claim decisions, claim management accuracy, and CID turnaround times.
• Identify root causes, solve problems, and implement solutions that improve performance and innovation.
• Collaborate across lines of business to promote best practices and operational efficiency.
• Support timely delivery of workstream initiatives and use automation or alternative sourcing options for additional tasks.

Requirements

• 3+ years of long-term disability claims handling experience, prior disability insurance experience, or equivalent experience.
• At least 1 year of experience providing feedback to frontline staff and supervisors.
• Extensive knowledge of group long-term disability products, administration, and claims procedures.
• Strong knowledge of the financial, medical, occupational, and investigative aspects of disability claims management.
• Excellent communication, analytical, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple priorities, identify risk, and mentor or coach staff.

• Experience with claim authorization reviews, complex claims, or claims workstream initiatives.
