Staff Forward Deployed Platform Engineer (AI)

Location: New York, NY; 4 days per week in the NYC office in the Flatiron District

Salary: $185,000–$265,000 per year in target base compensation

What you will do

• Lead the AI forward-deployed engineering team’s engagement model, operating cadence, and platform roadmap.
• Own the builder platform, including application templates, deployment pipelines, authentication, databases, security scanning, and observability.
• Run customer engagements from workflow scoping through delivery, including determining when a builder platform is not the right solution.
• Develop builder training and certification programs that define who can ship which types of applications.
• Build with AI agents alongside non-technical users, review agent output skeptically, and maintain safeguards for patient data.
• Turn repeated requests into reusable templates and paved-road patterns, and support hiring and onboarding as the team grows.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including substantial work with customers or non-technical users.
• Experience rapidly shipping prototypes and MVPs that turn ambiguous workflows into working tools.
• Ability to teach technical concepts clearly and empathetically to non-technical users.
• Sound judgment around security, compliance, and high-stakes workflows in a regulated environment.
• Daily experience building with AI agents and familiarity with skills, MCPs, harnesses, and agent orchestration.
• Ability to work 4 days per week from the NYC office.

Nice to have

• Founder, early-startup, or generalist experience owning a product end to end.
• Healthcare or other HIPAA-regulated engineering experience.
• Experience building internal platforms, developer tooling, low-code systems, or prototyping systems.
• Curriculum, enablement, or developer advocacy experience.
• Familiarity with Python, TypeScript, React, Postgres, Terragrunt, and AWS Lambda.
