TL;DR
Sr Staff Automation & Controls Engineer (Industrial Automation): Designing and implementing integrated automation, inspection, and testing systems for high-volume server manufacturing with an accent on mechatronics, robotics, PLCs, machine vision, and data-driven process control. Focus on building scalable assembly and test equipment, optimizing yield and throughput, qualifying production tools, and solving complex manufacturing reliability challenges.

Location: Georgetown, Texas, United States; onsite, full-time

Base salary: $116,250–$155,000 per year, with potential bonus eligibility.

What you will do

  • Design and implement automated assembly, inspection, and testing equipment for server components, including PCBs, power modules, and cooling systems.
  • Develop integrated mechatronic systems using robotics, sensors, actuators, PLCs, vision systems, motion control, and software.
  • Support new product introduction and smart factory initiatives by creating scalable automation strategies, process controls, and manufacturing frameworks.
  • Use SPC, FMEA, DOE, statistical analysis, and production data to improve yield, reliability, cycle time, and throughput.
  • Work with equipment vendors to specify, validate, install, and qualify automation solutions for medium- to high-volume production.
  • Lead process documentation, operator training, technical support, and compliance with safety, environmental, and industry standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, data science, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in high-volume, high-complexity manufacturing.
  • Expertise in regression and correlation analysis, DOE, SPC, PFMEA, Gauge R&R, and commonality studies.
  • Experience using Minitab, JMP, Python, R, SQL, or equivalent tools to analyze complex datasets.
  • Experience with electronics assembly, PCBA, servers, or other high-reliability industries.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools, industrial automation platforms, PLC programming, robotic integration, industrial sensors, and MES systems.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of AI/ML tools for statistical problem solving, predictive analytics, or anomaly detection.
  • MBA or exposure to business, finance, or economics.
