Principal Software Architect, Platform Engineering (Video Platform)

Location: Remote - California, United States

Salary: $159,490–$267,742 per year, plus benefits, 401(k) contribution, and eligibility for a short-term incentive plan.

What you will do

• Lead the design and development of a next-generation, planet-scale video platform for streaming, storage, and computer vision.
• Evaluate cloud technologies and architecture designs for highly scalable and highly available systems.
• Define APIs, software development standards, reusable-code practices, and architectural guidelines.
• Collaborate with architects and engineers across AI/ML, infrastructure, databases, firmware, middleware, and front-end development.
• Oversee design reviews, technical assessments, platform-level change management, and continuous process improvements.
• Mentor engineers, develop technology roadmaps, and communicate strategy to manager- and director-level stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of relevant experience, including 8 years in cloud architecture and platform design.
• Experience designing and maintaining large-scale, reliable cloud platforms and establishing software development lifecycles, standards, and documentation practices.
• Strong experience with Java SE, Java EE, JDBC, Hibernate, SQL and NoSQL databases, queues, messaging systems, and application performance monitoring.
• Experience with WebRTC, H.264, HLS, ICE, video relay, Eclipse, and Git.
• Experience with AWS services including EKS, ECR, Aurora, S3, KVS, SQS, Rekognition, and CodePipeline, plus full-stack collaboration.
