Senior Manager, Reinsurance Accounting

Location: Wilton, Connecticut or Parsippany, New Jersey, United States. Full-time role with team members primarily working in the office.

Salary: $128,000–$160,000 base salary for Connecticut positions; $129,000–$161,000 for New Jersey positions. Eligible for a bonus under the applicable incentive plan.

What you will do

• Manage accounting and operational controls for complex third-party reinsurance programs, including XOL recoveries, ceding commissions, broker statements, and leadership reporting.
• Oversee financial and operational accounting for global catastrophe reinsurance programs across contractual structures and open contract years.
• Prepare statements of account and coordinate timely settlements with global Treasury operations.
• Account for cash calls, reinstatement premiums, retrospectively rated contracts, and other less predictable reinsurance transactions.
• Provide global oversight of Travel Reinsurance activity, including general ledger controls, billing, and cash application.
• Support external and internal audits while leading three direct reports and an offshore platform.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; CPA preferred.
• At least seven years of relevant professional experience, particularly leading teams in a controller capacity for a public property and casualty insurance company.
• Advanced knowledge of reinsurance operations, including underwriting, claims, accounting, finance, processes, controls, and systems.
• Strong insurance accounting expertise, including analysis of relationships between the balance sheet and income statement.
• Experience managing onshore and offshore resources globally and using time zone differences to improve productivity.
• Strong communication, collaboration, analytical, systems, and process-improvement skills in a dynamic transformational environment.

Nice to have

• Reinsurance or insurance designation such as ARe or CPCU.
