Senior Director, Architecture Research Lab (AI)

Location: Daily onsite presence at the San Jose Headquarters, United States

Base pay range: $246,000–$430,000 USD annually, plus incentive opportunities.

What you will do

• Lead research and end-to-end co-design of next-generation AI system architectures, workloads, hardware platforms, and processors.
• Define rack-scale architectures that address memory capacity, bandwidth, and interconnect bottlenecks in large AI workloads.
• Build analytical and event-driven simulation frameworks for compute-memory-network performance and conduct quantitative design-space exploration.
• Architect high-performance, out-of-order RISC-V CPU cores and guide IPC-focused microarchitecture, cache, and memory hierarchy design.
• Partner with SAIT headquarters teams and cross-functional hardware, software, and memory technology teams.
• Lead a multidisciplinary research team, establish technical roadmaps, publish research, and present recommendations to senior leaders and external partners.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in system-level architecture research or large-scale computing platform design, with a focus on AI workloads.
• Expertise in performance modeling, event-driven simulation, transaction-level modeling, and quantitative compute-memory-interconnect analysis.
• Deep knowledge of RISC-V, ARM, and x86 CPU or accelerator architectures, heterogeneous integration, and out-of-order CPU microarchitecture.
• Experience designing rack-scale AI systems and evaluating performance, power, area, and cost trade-offs.
• Hands-on experience with simulation tools and Python or C++ programming, plus strong technical communication skills.
