Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) Technician II

Location: Houston, TX (TAS-Cullen HQ); onsite, full-time

What you will do

• Perform mechanical, electrical, controls, architectural, equipment, tagging, labeling, and P&ID inspections before shipment.
• Test and verify low- and medium-voltage cabling, electrical panels, power distribution equipment, lighting, receptacles, soft starters, and VFDs.
• Configure and test local controllers, PLCs, VFDs, end devices, instruments, automated valves, and HVAC units.
• Perform point-to-point wiring checks, I/O functional tests, instrument scale verification, and rotational checks.
• Complete inspection checklists in Autodesk Construction Cloud and issue punch-list items for identified defects.
• Coordinate with Operations, Project Engineers, Project Managers, and other FAT Technicians, and train others in factory acceptance testing.

Requirements

• 10 or more years of project field experience in construction support, startup, repair, and maintenance; modular shop experience is also acceptable.
• 5 or more years managing a team in an industrial shop or field environment.
• Experience verifying compliance with ASHRAE, ASME, and other relevant codes.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, electrical troubleshooting skills, and proficiency in interpreting schematic drawings and standard controls systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe, electrical safety procedures, and testing equipment including hi-pot testers, multimeters, phase rotation meters, meggers, amp clamps, and signal generators or HART communicators.
• High school diploma or equivalent; HVAC trade school or apprenticeship training is preferred, while military or technical experience may substitute.

• PLC troubleshooting knowledge.
• VFD configuration and troubleshooting knowledge.
• Journeyman electrical license.
