TL;DR
New Product Development / Launch Engineer (Automotive Electronics): Developing and launching manufacturing processes, equipment, and test flows for new electromechanical products with an accent on design for manufacturability, process capability, and cost-effective production. Focus on APQP, PFMEA, PPAP, process validation, equipment qualification, and structured root cause analysis through start of production.
Location: Chennai, India; full-time, onsite role.

What you will do
- Develop or modify manufacturing processes for assembly, calibration, and testing of new electromechanical products.
- Define production equipment specifications and coordinate with internal automation teams, equipment suppliers, contract manufacturers, and global make sites.
- Participate in global new product development and launch programs from early development through production ramp-up.
- Influence product designs to improve manufacturability, reduce defects, and meet performance and cost targets.
- Coordinate sample lines, process development equipment, equipment debugging, qualification, and knowledge transfer to production sites.
- Support sustaining and continuous improvement projects focused on cycle time, process capability, quality, and manufacturing cost.
Requirements
- University bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Experience with manufacturing process development, production equipment, tooling, process controls, and testing.
- Strong communication, organization, planning, time management, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, suppliers, contract manufacturers, and external customers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to prepare technical reports and present project status updates.
Nice to have
- Automotive industry experience with Tier-1 or Tier-2 suppliers, or experience in automotive electronics, sensors, connectors, or ECUs.
- Ownership of NPD or NPI programs from concept or RFQ through PPAP submission and SOP.
- Practical knowledge of IATF 16949 and APQP.
- Experience creating Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEA, Control Plans, and process validation documentation.
- Experience with 8D, 5 Why Analysis, Fishbone Diagrams, process data analysis, and cost reduction initiatives.
