Bodily Injury Claims Specialist (Insurance)

Location: Columbia, South Carolina, United States. The role includes initial in-person training and may offer work-from-home time based on job responsibilities and leadership approval. Regular attendance is required at a company-approved work location.

What you will do

• Investigate bodily injury claims by telephone, email, mail, on-site visits, and meetings with involved parties.
• Determine coverage, evaluate losses, analyze legal liability, and make payments based on claim findings.
• Interpret insurance policies, endorsements, and forms to establish applicable coverage.
• Participate in claim negotiations, settlements, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials.
• Handle complex and unusual exposure claims, maintain confidential information, and support the selection of outside counsel.
• Provide customer service to agents, insureds, and other parties while applying appropriate claim-handling procedures.

Requirements

• At least three years of insurance claims-related experience.
• Ability to organize and conduct investigations involving complex issues and reach logical, timely decisions.
• Ability to understand, interpret, and communicate insurance policy language.
• Ability to explain appropriate claim-handling techniques to participants in the claim process.
• Maintain required adjuster licenses within the applicable statutory or company timeframe.
• Must be able to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
