Production Planner – Wafer (Semiconductor Manufacturing)

Location: Livermore, California, United States; onsite day shift

Salary: $104,600–$137,235 per year, depending on experience, skills, and background.

What you will do

• Own short-, mid-, and long-range wafer fab production plans, including wafer starts, lot releases, module loading, completion projections, and recovery priorities.
• Translate demand, backlog, product mix, customer priorities, capacity, materials, yield, WIP, and cycle-time objectives into finite schedules for re-entrant wafer fabrication flows.
• Identify constraints and develop scenarios for demand changes, tool downtime, yield loss, staffing gaps, qualification delays, NPI ramps, and technology transfers.
• Lead daily and weekly planning reviews, monitor execution against plan, and coordinate lot sequencing, dispatch rules, holds, releases, and recovery actions.
• Maintain planning-critical master data and build dashboards covering starts, WIP, cycle time, move rates, capacity versus load, schedule adherence, and delivery risk.
• Lead cross-functional improvements, coach planners and production-control partners, and represent wafer fab planning in operational planning forums.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 8 years of progressive experience in production planning, scheduling, factory planning, industrial engineering, or manufacturing operations; semiconductor wafer fabrication experience is required or strongly preferred.
• Expertise in re-entrant manufacturing flows and in integrating demand, capacity, WIP, yield, cycle time, materials, and equipment constraints into executable schedules.
• Advanced experience with ERP, MES, APS, or fab scheduling systems, plus strong analytical skills with Microsoft Excel and business intelligence tools.
• Experience with semiconductor wafer fab processes such as thin-film, photolithography, deposition, etch, plating, cleaning, or metrology.
• Ability to work onsite and support priority fab issues or planning changes outside regular hours when business needs require.

Nice to have

• Experience with Oracle, SAP, Kinaxis, OMP, or comparable planning platforms, including semiconductor MES systems.
• Experience with factory ramps, capacity expansions, qualification planning, dispatching logic, constraint-based scheduling, cycle-time modeling, OEE, and statistical performance analysis.
• Lean, Six Sigma, APICS/ASCM, or related planning and continuous-improvement credentials.
