Electrical Engineering Intern (Power Systems)

Location: Boston, Massachusetts; hybrid schedule requiring at least 3 days per week in the office

What you will do

• Support building and facility electrical design across projects from planning through construction close-out.
• Conduct field surveys, engineering calculations, and CAD-based design work.
• Prepare power-system schematics, control and wiring drawings, equipment layouts, conduit routes, cable schedules, and installation drawings.
• Design grounding grids, lightning protection, lighting, fire alarm, power distribution, generation, and storage systems.
• Develop schematic designs into construction documents under the guidance of a Senior Engineer.
• Coordinate with railway clients, utility representatives, trades, and internal departments while supporting proposals and change orders.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering at an ABET-accredited university or NCEES-equivalent institution.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement with at least 3 days per week in the Boston office.
• Ability to perform electrical calculations and develop designs for power, lighting, and fire alarm systems.
• Ability to use or learn specialized electrical power-system analysis software for load flow, short-circuit, relay coordination, and ground-grid calculations.
• Ability to use AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, and Microsoft Word for design and contract documentation.

Nice to have

• Experience in the architecture, engineering, or construction management industry.
• Intermediate proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Availability to participate for at least 3 months.
