Senior Project Cost Controls Analyst

Location: Remote within the West Region of the United States, or hybrid with regular in-office presence in San Diego, California. Travel to project field locations may be required.

Salary: $86,903–$108,629 per year.

What you will do

• Build and maintain project cost forecasts, budgets, tracking systems, and monthly performance reports.
• Analyze cost, schedule, resource, and project health trends to identify risks, variance drivers, savings opportunities, and process improvements.
• Develop forecasting models, scenario plans, contingency strategies, and data-driven recommendations for project and executive leadership.
• Conduct root-cause analyses, data quality audits, and cost discrepancy resolution with project and field teams.
• Support SOX financial reporting controls, lessons-learned reviews, and portfolio trend reporting.
• Train and supervise analysts while collaborating with project managers, field operations, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or a related analytical field.
• 3–5 years of experience in project controls, FP&A, or another data-driven role.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong analytical, data management, modeling, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to translate complex technical data into clear business narratives and executive-ready presentations.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.
• Ability to travel as needed and collaborate effectively with project and field teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with Power BI, Python, and/or SQL.
