Lead Software Engineer (React)

Location: Hybrid; 3 days per week at a Guardian office in New York, NY, Bethlehem, PA, or Holmdel, NJ

Salary: $118,980–$195,465 annually, plus potential incentive compensation

What you will do

• Shape and deliver critical customer-facing digital experiences.
• Architect and build scalable, performant web applications using React, Next, Node, and AWS.
• Develop REST and GraphQL APIs and integrate third-party systems.
• Modernize technical solutions and solve complex business problems.
• Collaborate with product, design, business, data, marketing, and engineering stakeholders.
• Mentor engineers and establish standards for maintaining large applications.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience delivering resilient, high-performance public-facing web applications with measurable business impact.
• Advanced proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, including Node, React, Next, NestJS, and Jest.
• Extensive experience with API development, REST, GraphQL, and third-party integrations.
• Experience with web fundamentals, testing, CI/CD, AWS, Agile development, and web performance.
• Working knowledge of OWASP and security practices for personally identifiable information.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with Redis, micro-frontends, and microservices.
• BA/BS degree in computer science or a related field.
