Principal Enterprise Architect, Data

Location: Hybrid — three days per week at a Guardian location in New York, NY, Holmdel, NJ, or Bethlehem, PA. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Salary: $178,690–$293,560 per year, plus potential incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Develop and evolve enterprise architecture strategy, principles, standards, target-state designs, and transition roadmaps.
• Lead architecture for strategic initiatives, modernization programs, and enterprise-impacting technology decisions.
• Define architecture perspectives across applications, data, integration, cloud, platforms, security, and AI.
• Evaluate buy, build, reuse, partner, and retire options while balancing business value, cost, risk, resilience, speed, and maintainability.
• Partner with domain architects, engineering, platform, security, data, AI, infrastructure, and business leaders to resolve cross-domain design issues.
• Mentor architects and contribute to architecture communities, governance practices, and operating-model maturity.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
• 12+ years of progressive experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, domain architecture, or senior technology strategy.
• Deep cross-domain expertise in applications, integration, data, AI, cloud, security, and platform strategy.
• Experience with large-scale transformation, architecture governance, standards development, target-state planning, and strategic technology decisions.
• Ability to influence across organizational boundaries, communicate with executive and technical audiences, and lead through ambiguity.
• Hybrid attendance at a Guardian location in New York, NY, Holmdel, NJ, or Bethlehem, PA is required three days per week; U.S. work authorization without sponsorship is required.

Nice to have

• Experience in insurance, financial services, healthcare, or another highly regulated industry.
• Experience in a federated technology organization with centralized architecture direction and distributed execution.
• Experience with cloud modernization, API strategies, platform engineering, data ecosystems, enterprise integration, AI-enabled capabilities, and automation.
• Advanced degree or certifications such as TOGAF, SAFe, AWS, Azure, or GCP.
