Principal AI Workflow Engineer

Location: Rancho Cordova, California, United States; full-time onsite role.

Salary: $196,240–$314,000 per year, plus eligibility for RSU, RCU, and cash bonus programs.

What you will do

• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and define a firmware AI roadmap aligned with business priorities and measurable engineering impact.
• Prototype, validate, and scale AI tools for code generation, code review, test synthesis, bug triage, documentation, and validation.
• Design and deploy agentic AI systems, RAG solutions, and domain-specific LLM pipelines using firmware knowledge and defect data.
• Build AI-assisted tooling integrated with CI/CD systems, IDEs, and build environments to improve quality and accelerate development.
• Lead AI architecture and best practices for the firmware organization, coach engineers, and drive AI upskilling.
• Partner with AI Platform, Security, Legal, IT, DevOps, vendors, research institutions, and executive leadership to deliver secure and compliant AI adoption.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software or embedded engineering experience with deep C/C++ expertise in embedded systems, RTOS environments, or storage firmware.
• Hands-on experience building, fine-tuning, deploying, or integrating LLMs and agentic AI systems in production or near-production environments.
• Experience developing AI-assisted developer tooling integrated with CI/CD and engineering workflows.
• Deep understanding of firmware validation, including unit testing, integration testing, simulation frameworks, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Strong technical communication skills and the ability to influence senior engineering leaders and translate AI capabilities into practical engineering strategies.

Nice to have

• Experience with storage technology, SSD firmware, NAND flash systems, or semiconductor engineering.
• Experience with MLOps platforms and AI infrastructure, including model serving, evaluation pipelines, vector databases, and LLM gateways.
• Knowledge of AI-driven EDA tools, hardware design automation, or silicon lifecycle engineering.
• Open-source AI or firmware contributions, relevant publications, advanced prompt engineering, multi-agent systems, or LLM-based software engineering research.
