Design Engineer

Location: Alexandria, Louisiana, United States; Workplace: On-site

What you will do

• Develop preliminary estimates, project designs, schedules, and document coordination for substation projects.
• Design and interpret drawings for substation structures, foundations, lightning protection systems, aluminum bus systems, and factory-built structures.
• Review equipment drawings, structure designs, equipment specifications, fabrication documents, and construction documents.
• Create and check structural and foundation design calculations and review layout details and electrical clearances.
• Ensure designs comply with customer specifications, applicable codes, and regulatory standards.
• Resolve design, construction, and compliance issues and answer technical questions from project managers, customers, and representatives.

Requirements

• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Ability to coordinate with project managers, customers, and other staff members.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, MathCad, LPile, PLS Pole, and Staad Pro is preferred.
