TL;DR
Senior Engineer, Architecture & Performance Research Engineer for Data Center and Agentic AI CPU (RISC-V/AI): Researching next-generation CPU microarchitectures and performance for data center and agentic AI workloads with an accent on workload analysis, architectural modeling, and silicon validation. Focus on identifying bottlenecks, developing performance models, designing microarchitectural concepts, and translating them into RTL and validated silicon.

Location: Daily onsite presence at the San Jose office, United States

Base pay: $138,000–$206,000 USD per year, plus incentive opportunities.

What you will do

  • Research next-generation RISC-V CPU microarchitectures and performance for data center and agentic AI workloads.
  • Develop architectural simulations and performance models, analyzing IPC, CPI stacks, latency, throughput, and workload behavior.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and optimization opportunities across CPU front-end, mid-end, and back-end domains.
  • Own a microarchitectural area from idea proposal through implementation, RTL collaboration, and silicon validation.
  • Develop scripts and tools to automate performance analysis and architectural exploration.
  • Contribute to patents and technical publications based on novel CPU architecture research.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Computer Architecture, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 3+ years of experience, or a PhD in a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in CPU microarchitecture or performance engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of out-of-order execution, branch prediction, pipelines, speculation, and cache and memory systems.
  • Hands-on experience with architectural simulators such as gem5.
  • Proficiency in C, C++, and Python.
  • Ability to work onsite daily at the San Jose office.

Nice to have

  • Experience with RISC-V, ARM, or x86 CPU cores, or GPU/NPU vector unit design.
  • Experience with or interest in AI-driven or agentic design workflows.
  • Understanding of agentic AI workload execution patterns and characteristics.
  • Experience with PPA trade-off analysis, CPU tape-out, silicon validation, patents, or technical publications.
