Principal Industrial Designer (Connected Fitness Hardware)

Location: New York, New York; hybrid work arrangement at the New York City headquarters

Base salary: $215,050–$264,150 USD annually, plus annual equity awards, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, and region-specific benefits.

What you will do

• Design and develop large-scale fitness equipment, including integrated subsystems and member input devices.
• Lead end-to-end product development from research and early concept exploration through DFM and launch.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Mechanical Engineering, UX Testing, Software, vendors, and business partners.
• Communicate design concepts through physical prototypes, sketches, 2D presentations, CAD, and presentations.
• Resolve technical challenges, debug design issues, and maintain design intent with limited oversight.
• Specify CMF for user-facing parts and manage work across two or more projects at different development stages.

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant industrial design experience, preferably in an adjacent industry such as automotive, aerospace, or large equipment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design.
• Experience bringing analog and digital products to market under rigorous ergonomic and usability requirements.
• Experience developing small- and large-scale mass-produced products using methods including injection molding, metal stamping, welding, die casting, extrusions, and soft goods.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, including surface modeling and curvature-continuous CAD; KeyShot; Adobe Photoshop; and Adobe Illustrator.
• A portfolio submission is required and must demonstrate process, problem-solving, and prototyping.

• Fitness industry experience.
• Advanced surfacing with SolidWorks or another parametric modeling tool.
