Distinguished Architect - Enterprise Stability & Resilience Engineering (Banking)

Location: Hybrid, 4 days in the office at locations including Johnston, Rhode Island; Dallas, Texas; Nashville, Tennessee; Iselin, New Jersey; Westwood or Medford, Massachusetts; Phoenix, Arizona; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Plano, Texas; and Short Hills, New Jersey. The role is not relocation eligible.

Salary: $182,000–$254,000 per year, plus potential incentive earnings.

What you will do

• Define the enterprise architecture vision and strategy for stability, resilience, reliability, recoverability, security, and performance engineering.
• Develop reference architectures, engineering standards, patterns, frameworks, and reusable resilience capabilities.
• Architect resilience across critical customer journeys, business functions, applications, APIs, middleware, data platforms, infrastructure, and third-party services.
• Identify systemic risks, architectural vulnerabilities, concentration risks, failure points, recovery gaps, and customer-impact risks.
• Establish principles and patterns for fault tolerance, high availability, disaster recovery, cyber recovery, service continuity, scalability, and operational readiness.
• Embed automated architecture guardrails, engineering scorecards, stage-gate controls, and governance-by-design practices into software delivery workflows.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, enterprise architecture, or large-scale technology leadership.
• Demonstrated expertise across software engineering, architecture, delivery, and operational excellence.
• Experience designing and influencing large-scale enterprise technology ecosystems.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, integration architecture, event-driven architectures, middleware, data platforms, and enterprise application landscapes.
• Experience designing highly available, fault-tolerant, resilient, and recoverable systems.
• Strong executive communication, influencing, strategic leadership, systems thinking, business capability modeling, and customer journey architecture skills.

Nice to have

• Financial services, banking, payments, or other highly regulated industry experience.
• Experience in resilience, reliability, performance, operational resilience, disaster recovery, cyber recovery, or risk management.
• Experience defining enterprise engineering standards, governance frameworks, architecture maturity models, engineering platforms, or automated controls.
• Experience leading customer-journey-centric transformation initiatives.
