Firmware Product Line Architect (SSD)

Location: Hybrid, based in Longmont, Colorado, or Rancho Cordova, California, USA

Salary: $153,760–$246,100 per year, plus eligibility for RSU, RCU, and cash bonus programs.

What you will do

• Provide cross-domain, product-level technical leadership for next-generation SSD firmware.
• Define architectural requirements, scope initiatives, assess features, and translate customer requirements into development and validation plans.
• Lead the development, review, documentation, and implementation of low-level firmware in C/C++.
• Design firmware, system, operating system, and device architectures in partnership with hardware and ASIC teams.
• Model algorithms, benchmark performance, and perform unit and system-level testing, failure analysis, and debugging.
• Coordinate engineering priorities and milestones while contributing to an Agile/Kanban culture focused on quality and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in embedded software or firmware development using C/C++, including 8+ years in SSD firmware architecture or NAND flash storage systems.
• Technical leadership experience across ASIC, hardware, firmware, validation, product engineering, and manufacturing teams.
• Expertise in SSD firmware technologies including FTL, QoS, wear leveling, garbage collection, bad block management, ECC/error recovery, power-loss protection, and NAND flash management.
• Strong written, presentation, communication, influencing, leadership, and multitasking skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with enterprise storage interfaces and protocols such as PCIe, NVMe, and NVMe-MI.
• Experience with SSD security technologies, controller ASIC and hardware architecture, and emerging storage technologies such as QLC/PLC NAND, Zoned Namespaces, Computational Storage, CXL, and NVMe over Fabrics.
• Experience establishing firmware standards and technical direction, mentoring senior engineers, and engaging strategic customers.
• Understanding of software development lifecycle, CI/CD, automated validation, and release management for embedded firmware.
