UHP Analytical Engineer

Location: Onsite in Chandler, Arizona, United States; up to 25% travel throughout the Americas region.

What you will do

• Support analytical system requirements and develop analytical strategies for operating gas production and distribution facilities.
• Define analytical technology selection, sample conditioning system design, installation, commissioning, maintenance, and obsolescence planning.
• Ensure uptime, reliability, data integrity, measurement accuracy, and compliance of UHP gas analysis systems.
• Evaluate analytical technologies and collaborate with vendors to identify solutions with a low total cost of ownership.
• Lead training, FMEA activities, 8D investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive actions.
• Partner with Process Controls, Operations, Quality, Engineering, Laboratories, Operational Excellence, vendors, and customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in instrumentation, chemistry, engineering, or a related scientific field.
• 15 years of experience with UHP analytical systems in the specialty or industrial gas industries.
• In-depth knowledge of analytical systems measuring ppb- and ppt-level impurities in bulk gas streams, including N2, O2, Ar, H2, He, and CO2.
• Strong experience with spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, gas chromatography, particle counters, and electrochemical sensors.
• Fluent written and verbal English required.
• Ability to work onsite in Chandler and travel up to 25%; valid driver’s license and good driving record required.

• Master’s degree.
• Experience with method development, gas sampling systems, and process control systems.
