Mechanical Fitter (Manufacturing)

Location: Springhill, Port Kembla, Australia; onsite manufacturing facility

What you will do

• Inspect online and offline equipment to assess mechanical condition.
• Isolate equipment and lead preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
• Perform mechanical fault finding and defect elimination to support reliable process-line operation.
• Rebuild and repair mechanical spares for continuous manufacturing operations.
• Use SAP and the computerised maintenance management system to support procurement of consumables, tools, and stocked spares.
• Identify opportunities to improve maintenance practices and strategies.

Requirements

• Fitting or machining trade qualification.
• Experience performing maintenance in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
• Ability to fault-find mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment and understand its interaction with process-line automation.
• Strong attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to personal safety, wellbeing, and the safety of others.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with rolling mill equipment and associated condition-monitoring practices.
• Interest in progressively developing trade and leadership skills.
