Senior Plumbing Designer

Location: San Diego, California, USA; hybrid schedule with onsite work Monday–Wednesday and optional work from home on Thursday and Friday.

Base salary: $107,000–$120,000 per year, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Design plumbing layouts, details, and complete system designs for commercial, military, hospital, industrial, and office facilities.
• Develop domestic hot and cold water, waste and vent, grease waste, condensate, natural gas, propane, compressed air, laboratory gas, and medical gas systems.
• Produce computer-generated drawings, charts, overlays, and isometric drawings from sketches, notes, and design inputs.
• Apply plumbing, mechanical, energy, and construction codes and practices to deliver accurate, compliant designs.
• Coordinate with architectural practices and multidisciplinary project teams to support project completion.
• Train and assign work to designers and CAD professionals while managing multiple priorities.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience designing plumbing systems for commercial buildings.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college.
• Advanced plumbing design skills and the ability to perform self-directed design work.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Revit, plus proficiency in CAD and BIM standards and clash detection.
• Extensive knowledge of relevant mechanical, energy, plumbing, design, and construction codes.
• Must work from the San Diego office Monday–Wednesday; the position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Certified in Plumbing Design (CPD) or equivalent.
